Field Notes

Description:

Spring has arrived when you see one of these wonderful song birds. They are the first to arrive. This male house sparrow has a large black spot on throat extending down to the chest. Brown back and gray belly and crown. These birds are not really sparrows but members of the Weaver Finch family.

Habitat:

There was a small flock of these house sparrows in our campground at High Island, Texas. They were singing their songs in the mornings. Wonderful!
