Cooper's Hawk - male
Accipiter cooperii
33.8819, -112.141
Field Notes
Habitat:
Desert wash
Notes:
I watched this male Cooper's Hawk fly low above a desert wash near my house. I noticed an unusual detail of the bird; it had these big fluffy white feathers under its tail that flared out when it flew. This confused me at first and then I noticed a nice illustration of this event in my Sibley's Guide To Birds.
