Field Notes

Description:

This bone was jammed about an inch into the ground could have been deposited by flood, doubt it can be identified in this state. It has what looks to me like the gnawing of squirrels, they do tend to hone their teeth on everything in the area hard enough, including but not limited to our tree signs.

Habitat:

Riparian-mixed woods

Looks like the mice found it first. It's amazing how fast they work on bones
The first picture shows the entire bone, except for the small bit stuck in the ground. Was approx 12-15cm by 2cm.
What a bizarre find! Any chance you could add a picture of the entire bone?! It's interesting that it is hollow... How large is the bone? Any measurements?
