Mottled Cup Moth Larvae

Also known as Chinese Junk or Fireworks caterpillar. Colourful caterpillar about 3cm in length, salmon pink with saddle of pale blue, yellow, white and edged with black, sides lined with yellow and pale green with small 'spikes on each side of body, feet under body, 4 areas on each end (8 in total) which contain plumes of small spikes which it throws out making the caterpillar look like a formidable creature. Plant eater. Forms a cup shaped cocoon and several weeks later emerges as a brown coloured moth.
