Thanks, Malcolm! Unfortunately, this particular lizard was nervous and scrambled off the tree to scamper away fairly quickly. I'll look out for the nostrils the next time I see a monitor lizard!
There are only two Monitors in Singapore, the Clouded Monitor (elongated nostrils midway between eyes and snout) and the Malayan Water Monitor (round nostrils close to snout).
