Field Notes

Description:

4 petals, one white coming to a point (though rounded), 2 side petals of white fading to blue at rounded edge, and one petal fading from white to striking purple to blue at rounded end. Tiny, tiny flowers. We would have never seen them in the gravel if we hadn't been searching for decorated eggs this morning. :)

Habitat:

rocky ground along gravel drive

Notes:

Veronica arvensis is my best guess, leaf shape is reasonable, but I haven't come across any matching photos with this kind of flower coloring.
I just found Veronica persica
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persian_speedwell
And it looks more like it I think. What do you think?

Hope - Jessie's got good eyes! I have to really focus to find them again each time among the rubble. But on campus this weekend we did see a nice thick patch.
Thank you much! I will update the ID.
