Field Notes

Habitat:

Pond in small park

Notes:

This great bird was the reason for which I visited Dos Lagos Park today! It came up on the birding listserv and I hadn't seen one yet, so we decided to go after my college classes ended for the day. This little duck was hanging out with the American Wigeons. It was quite unafraid of me as I took its picture. It is a male in transitional plumage.

I got exited one time because I thought I saw a female Eurasian Wigeon, it was actually a very strange domestic mallard, it was brown with a pale blue/grey bill w/ a black tip, and a solid brown body. I'll go post it!!!
Yah, I'm going to Bolsa Chica... hopefully in a few weeks!!! Hoping I see lots of new ones there!!!
Thanks Des! Maybe you'll see one in California sometime. They are more often found in CA.
I am Sooo jealous! I haven't even seen an american wigeon!!!!!!!!! Cool bird, Josh!
