Field Notes

Description:

A small, sub adult gecko, although this species is large by dwarf gecko standards, being about 30mm long (snout to vent). The lateral white stripes visible on the head and neck fade out further down the body; this is a variable feature within this species with some individuals showing a clear stripe the full length of their bodies. Photo 1 shows the detail of one of the gecko's foot which is holding it on a vertical pane of glass

Habitat:

Sub tropical bushveld with hot, erratically wet summers and mild, dry winters. This little chap was hunting on the outside of the window pane for insects attracted by the lights within.
