Description:

A mostly dark bird, they have long yellow legs and a white crest on the top of the head. They are commonly seen running on the ground.

Habitat:

They are found from southern Texas south to South America. They are also found in Florida occasionally and are spreading North in the US quite rapidly. They prefer open country.
