Field Notes

Description:

Also known as European Robin or Robin redbreast, this is a small songbird (a bit smaller than sparrow) belonging to family of Old World flycatchers, or Muscicapidae. Portrayed here is juvenile bird, predominantly brown with lighter-in-color, almost whitish, belly; and spotted chest and head. The bill is black (edged yellow in juveniles) and has the broad but pointed shape typical of aerial insectivores.

Habitat:

Robin is typically Eurasian resident bird, and intra-continental migrant - birds from far north usually migrate to more clement climates in southern parts of continent. Here seen on edges of mixed forest, bordering with mountain pastures.
