Field Notes

Description:

A hemipteran of the Family Rhopalidae about 1.5 cm with bright red eyes. They are called Red Eyed Bugs, Soapberry Bugs or Scentless Plant Bugs.

Habitat:

Sitting on a wooden bench along the trail in the Fir Forest of the Monarch Sanctuary "El Rosario" above Angangueo, Michoacan, Mexico.

Leptocoris tagalicus

Thank you Vernando for the identification. Leptocoris tagalicus is supposed to be Australian and not occur in Mexico. I am not sure if any Leptocoris occur in Mexico. It might be a species of Jadera, a new world counterpart. What do you think?
