Description:

Pictures 2 & 3 contain some Yellow-legged Gulls on the right also for comparison. The Yellow-legged Gull normally has 3-5 large white tips on the outer primaries, on the Lesser Black-backed Gull these are much smaller and the outer Primary has a large white mirror on the inner half. They are not clear on all these due to moulting. The Lesser Black-backed Gull has lots of dark streaks on the head while the Yellow-legged Gulls head is mostly white.
