Field Notes

Description:

Beautiful little falcon. Rusty/tan back. White/gray with black accents under wing and belly. Black tips on tail. Beak - yellow with gray tip.

Habitat:

Spotted hovering over winter brush and low trees along the southern bank of the Han river.

Notes:

This bird must be on its way back up to Russia for the summer. It was hovering on the western wind only 12 feet (3 m) off the ground along southern river bank of the Han.
