Field Notes

Description:

Family: Orb weaver spiders (Araneidae) Abdomen 1 inch (largest and most bulbous I have seen.) Female. Very intricate abdomen mask design that is yellow and black.. Red, brown and off white legs. Non-venomous. Non-aggressive (usually). Early Fall 2012

Habitat:

Open woodlands near a brook. Hiding in a dead hanging leaf. Sneaky!

Notes:

From my "lost file photo folders" I have a few insects and spiders from a file I misplaced and found. So these photos are out of order and from the year 2012. But I thought it was worthy of uploading. (Largest female marbled orb weaver spider I have ever seen. Very bulbous abdomen)
