Field Notes

Description:

This fungi is orange-red in color and has large, vibrant pores no more than 1 mm apart. The cap is 14.7 cm wide and 12.3 cm long. There are a few visible rings and plate like. What is interesting is that around it are several white mushrooms that look similar, however they are smaller.

Habitat:

I found this fungi in a tropical rain forest at around 12:46 in the afternoon. It was on a decaying log. The climate was pretty cool and humid and a fair amount of sunlight could reach it. It was in a remote place that was probably where a tree had fallen down.

Notes:

Around the mushroom, the log is slowly turning red looking as if it has been infected by the fungi.
