Description:
The beautiful design of this wasp's body always thrilled me. It was only about 20 mm long with an orange thorax and slender orange abdomen. The abdomen was held high attached to the thorax by a narrow waist. <br>
The wings were clear except for a pair of sclerotised spots (pic 3) seen in one of the cells near the pterostigma along the leading edge. <br>
Antennae were long and filamentous.
Habitat:
Spotted under bright lights - suburban area.
Notes:
The young of these wasps parasitise sawfly larvae and moth caterpillars. <br>
