Field Notes

Description:

Very hard and spikey rounded bush to approx 60cm. All of the vegetation was low and very spikey. No trees in the vicinity. Delphi is approx 1000m above sea level and very exposed on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. Hot summers and cold winters. The vegetation reflects the climate. Reduced leaf size, sometimes to spines to reduce transpiration, and very tough leaves to survive the winter.

Habitat:

Growing on sparsely vegetated mountain slopes in Delphi, Greece

Looks pretty good for an Eringium. I will put it to 'sp.' until we work out what it is. Thank you for the tip!
Interesting plant evolution. It looks tough :)
