Field Notes

Description:

Large velvety black, white and yellow spotted wasp found in river bank forest in the Pantanal, which a local man told me was called a jaguar ant. I can find a reference to the Mayan people refering to female flightless wasps as Jaguar Ants.

Thank you Jellis I really appreciate the input. I have done a quick edit but will look into it more and hopefully gather some more information to add to this spotting.
Sure it's from the Traumatomutilla family
Thank you Polilla. Still trying to work out if its a wasp or an ant - all a bit confusing really! :)
