Yes, they are rather common near the lodge....but a treat for us to see.
Very cool! We were lucky to see several pairs of hoatzins while in Yasuni.

The first one is a female on the nest, and you can't see much of the wing color (not sure if they are sexually dimorphic)...maybe the light...but I did not alter the color.
I wonder if second and third pictures are more true to colors (first one is brown)?
sounds perfect now all I need to do is fit it in with all the other places on my list...oh and go and buy a lottery ticket first haha!!
We were there for 5 days and saw 175 species of birds...it's a neat place...hot, humid, & buggy at times but pretty darn wonderful...great food too! Thanks Debbie
