Description:

These birds were standing around on the Jetty of the Hotel in Tobago where the fishing and dive boats come in. their plumage is dominated by a harlequin-like pattern of black and white. The head is mainly white with black streaks on the crown and a black pattern on the face, the underpart is mainly white and they have bright orange legs with a dark slightly upturned beak.

Habitat:

Seen at the Blue waters Inn Hotel in Speyside, Tobago. mostly on the Jetty going from the beach out into the open sea. It is a highly migratory bird, breeding in northern parts of Eurasia and North America and flying south to winter on coastlines almost worldwide.
