Field Notes

Description:

Large upright-type, long-necked, mostly grayish bird w/ rust, black and white coloring.

Habitat:

They adapt to most wetland habitats. This one was spotted standing in the reeds along side a foot bridge in a county park. It was foraging for food in the water beneath him. It was brackish water w/ water coming from a spring and tidal influence from the Gulf of Mexico.
