Field Notes
Description:
This shield bug was approximately 3 cm long and 1 cm wide. Its body was mostly green in color and near the back it was in contrast, a brown color. At the edges of the body, there were beautiful patterns across the side of the bug, of the colors yellow and black. Its head was tiny and way smaller than its body. It had two dark antennae and 6 legs. The tip of the antennae is black colored.
Habitat:
This bug was living in Singapore American School's rainforest, which is a secondary rainforest. It was resting on the underside of a large leaf. The climate there was shady, since the leaf provided shade for it.
Notes:
Shield bugs are also commonly known as Stink Bugs. They can produce foul smelling liquid, which is used to defend themselves against predators.
