Description:

This beautiful cluster was growing by itself on a small, predominantly clay embankment.

Habitat:

They were growing on hardwood roots, in a mostly open area, by a low-traffic road.

Notes:

Armillaria mellea are edible! There are some other, similar looking poisonous species, so always be sure if you are foraging.
