Description:

Perennial herb with long-life white tubers from which the spring emergeslarge leaves 15-20 cm high. In late summer and early autumn appear large purple pink flowers with six long petals on long stems. Seeds ripen in August next year.
Meadow Saffron is poisonous.

Habitat:

Grows on wetter mountainous meadows and pastures.
