Field Notes

Description:

This ghost crab was busy everyday digging the sand out from its burrow that the tide had washed in. It was quite comical to watch as it kept going down the hole then reappearing with a claw full of sand which it threw as far as it could across the beach, it was very quick too so I had to try and guess when it would reappear from its burrow to get a photo of it.These crabs were once described as an "occult, secretive alien from the ancient depths of the sea! although at 5cm big its not a very large 'alien'!!

Habitat:

seen on the Beach at Speyside Tobago just infront of the Blue waters Inn Hotel.
