Description:
I'm always more than happy to get a shot of kingfishers and this one was our last spotting in marshes of Sené for that day. And the only shot we managed - fast as kingfishers are, we were lucky to get one... The Eurasian kingfisher is a very attractive small bird, typical kingfisher in shape, and boldly coloured azure blue and rufous.
Habitat:
Reed vegetation in saline marshes of Sené, a highly protected ornithological reserve in Morbihan bay of Brittany, France.
Notes:
The marshes of Sené are waders' paradise, and I wish we had some more time to explore them more. In one afternoon we observed plenty of avocets, stilts, barges, dunlins, shelducks, egrets, lapwings, terns and gulls; unfortunately, we missed spoonbills, but gt to see beside this beautiful kingfisher, some swallows, wrens, robins and linnets in exchange... Great place, great volunteers ready to explain and answer your questions; and I sincerely recommend it if you are around.
