Field Notes

Description:

This jackfruit and jackfruit tree had a obovate leaf shape, with dimensions of 12cm long and 6cm wide. It had an entire leaf margin with a venation of a netted pinnate. The leaf arrangement was whorled. The bark was smooth and the tree has buttress roots.

Habitat:

This tree was spotted in the canopy in the Secondary Forest of Singapore American School. This tree was not in a dense area and had quite a bit of space around it.

Notes:

This fruit is a main ingredient in Indian and many other cuisines. Also, the wood from this tree is used to make instruments.
