Field Notes

Description:

Large, white parrot. It's size (up to 55cm long) and prominent yellow crest distinguishes it.

Habitat:

Open woodland, forest.

Notes:

The Whitsunday Islands off the Queensland coast are continental islands with well established forests. We were moored in an inlet and there were dozens of these in the surrounding trees. This one obviously had seen visitors before and unfortunately was probably used to being fed.

Good photo... It's awesome to watch a flock of them fly. You should join and add this spotting to my mission (http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/20630044). It's focused entirely on Aussie parrots! I'm trying to build up participants and photos, and this would be another great addition.
Lovely pic Carolyn. Welcome to Project Noah! : )
