Description:

The Chestnut streaked sailor is a species of nymphalid butterflies, It has a characteristic stiff gliding flight achieved by short and shallow wingbeats. This one appeared to be sunning itself in the area surrounding Kanha Jungle Lodge.

Habitat:

seen in the grounds of Kanha Jungle lodge next to the national park of the same name in Madhya Pradesh. it can be found in South and Sout East Asia.

Notes:

Members of this genus share a common theme of white spots and bars on a blackish ground colour. Distinguishing between the species involves careful study of the configuration of the spots, bars and submarginal lines on both wing surfaces. Thanks to Sachindras sharp eye this one was corrected to chestnut streaked not common Sailor.
