European blackbird (female)

The male blackbird was actually sitting on this pot having a drink as there was still meltwater in it from ths snow that hadnt drained but then the female decide she wanted a drink so chased him off it and had it to herself! blackbirds are territorial and pairs do tend to stay in the same area so it is likely these were a pair. The female still has the bright beak and yellow eye ring but lacks the black feathers that gave the male its namesake. Its very easy to see that she is part of the thrush (turdus) family with her brown feathers.
