Field Notes

Description:

This is an extremely large ant. It had a unusually large abdomen. It had six long, thin legs with joints that were quite clearly visible. It was a shiny, oily black color, with two long, long antennae. It was about the size of one joint of your thumb.

Habitat:

It crawled out a a thin, tall, hollow tree. There were several holes and openings out of the tree/branches.

Notes:

It was found in the SAS rainforest.
