Field Notes

Description:

The west African giraffe is distinguished by its light coloured spots which can vary slightly in colour and size, the animal can weigh up to 2,800 pounds. another species that is found in west Africa is the black rhino which are hard to spot nowadays and are a endangered species . One symbiotic relation ship between this animal is with the african tick bird, the bird eats ticks off the giraffe for food while the giraffe gets cleaned which is a example of mutualism. Some adaptations of this species is its coat of fur to blend with its environment, its fringed tail to keep away pests and its long neck used to reach tall trees. this animal is sexual as most mammals are , it need a sperm and a egg in order to reproduce a zygote which forms into a embryo.

Habitat:

the niche of the african giraffe is it lives in the western region of Africa and it enjoys feasting on tall treed leaves , fruits flowers the only thing that can compete for food at this level would be a elephant. the adult giraffe is prey not to many but the baby giraffe on the other hand are very much hunted by lions. These animal are a very delicate piece of the puzzle in africa , without them lions wouldn't feast and there would be to many flowers for not enough meat lovers.

Notes:

i couldn't add a location but i took this photo on a wild life reserve in florida orlando.
