Description:
The pronghorn is commonly refered to as an antelope but it is not a true antelope. It is an artiodactyl mammal endimic to North America. Both the male and female have horns but the male,s are larger. The horns are shed and regrown annually.
Habitat:
These were spotted in the open prarie of southeastern New Mexico. They were grazing about 100 yards from the road.
Notes:
Pronghorn have keen eyesight and can run 35 mph for 3 miles!
