Field Notes

Description:

I want to learn the difference between moss and liverworts and I still have troubles with it at times. I am thinking that this here is liverwort and from the reading around I have done I would guess it is in the genus Porella but I really don't know and I'm hoping someone can identify this for me and maybe point out the characteristics place it in the particular division. I've noticed in images of liverworts that there seems to be a pattern to the tiny little leaves but there are images of mosses I've seen that look very similar to the liverworts so there is obviously something that i am missing.
