Field Notes

Description:

A black winged butterfly with blue spots. Their abdomen is an orange color. Hidden on the left bottom is the atala pupa (chrysalis).

Habitat:

Atala butterfly is endagered because the host plant (Coontie) that is native to Florida was nearly wipped out. I found this atala in fairchild tropical garden.
