Field Notes

Description:

Small to medium-sized, very slender beetle, wholly bright reddish brown.

Habitat:

This specimen flew indoors, attracted to lights at night. Surrounding habitat was rural township with deciduous forest, agricultural fields.

Notes:

Female beetles girdle twigs to kill them, then lay eggs in the resulting dying portion. Eventually the twig snaps off.
