Field Notes

Description:

Leaves stand up to a little over a foot high on larger specimens. Leaves arise out of the root, and are tightly furled before opening. No obvious flowers yet. (Bluish flower stalks in the second photo are probably a different species growing in the same area).

Habitat:

Deciduous forest near a creek. These grow very close to the creek banks. Parfrey's Glen State Natural Area near Baraboo WI
