Sorry Hunter but looks like I had brain freeze when I wrote the last comment. Everything is right apart from the term menal - I meant melonistic which denotes the black colour phase. Menil (with an 'i') refers to the pale colour form from sandy brown through white, which is the rarer from. I appologise if I caused any confusion. Robert.
Hi Hunter and Jellis, yes I can confirm they are fallow deer ( Dama dama) The buck looks to be a young (probably 2yr) animal and they are both in menal (melonistic - black) coats. As a matter of interest, in many enclosed herds that are not specifically selected for coat colour, the menal gene tends to be the dominant one even over the regular brown form - the pure white is the rarest.
Not positive since the image is a litte blurry. Tennessee has many exotic animal farms that raise animals to be hunted. These look alittle like the Black Fallow Deer but not sure.
