Field Notes

Description:

This fungi is stuck to the trunk of trees. This fungi is sticking in places from 2 feet to 6 feet. This has the radius of about 4 inches. The top part is brown and looks like a tree stump because it has rings. The bottom is a white color just like the outer ring.

Habitat:

Secoundary rainforest

Notes:

Many fungus beetles, Eumorphus marginatus, were found on this fungi.

Sorry, I forgot to do some research. Upon consideration, it looks a little more like a Ganoderma applanatum. See http://eol.org/pages/133532/overview.
I think this may be a kind of bracket fungus. Maybe Phylum Basidiomycota?
