Description:

Club Silverline (Spindasis syama negrita C. Felder 1862; Lycaenidae; Lycaeninae; Aphnaeini).

This is the 2nd sighting of this species in the garden (previously sighted on September 15, 2014). Seen side by side with the skipper Taractrocera luzonensis luzonensis, both with wings closed, the Club Silverline's size (FW length ~ 14mm) is just a little bigger than the Luzon Grass Dart (FW length ~ 12mm).

Distributional record: Bohol, Cebu, Camiguin de Luzon, Camotes, Dinagat, Homonhon, Leyte, Luzon, Marinduque, Masbate, Mindoro, Mindanao, Negros, Palawan, Panay, Polillo, Samar. Recorded hostplants: Clerodendron cyrtophyllum (Verbenaceae), Dioscorea (Dioscoreaceae), Maesa perlarius, Millettia sp., Millettia nitida, Xylia (Papilionaceae) and Psidium guayava (Guava/Bayabas, Myrtaceae).

Habitat:

Backyard at Biñan, Laguna.
