Description:

A member of the Solanaceae family with flowers and fruit present. It grows to about 5 meters on rather thin and flexible, but woody stems. Lilac colored flowers about 1 cm in diameter, red-orange fruits 0.5 cm in diameter.

Quite right Brodie. If it has not got a prickly stem then it may not be trilobatum.Where I live here in Asia there are many Solanum species. Many grow as weeds,and many have subtle differences. Some may even be hybrids. Good luck
Thanks for helping me progress towards an ID, Mary and Lenny. I don't think it is S. trilobatum since it has no spines or thorns.
