Description:

This bee is cashing in on an early supply of nectar and is one of the first bees to appear in the UK within the first few days of March, its a largish solitary bee with the male being ginger with a red stripe and the female being all black.

Habitat:

Seen out in the Derbyshire Dales on a day when temperatures were pleasant, these bees are easliy seen throughout England and especially favour Lungwort.
