Field Notes

Description:

This stink bug nymph was about 2 cm long and 1.6 cm wide. It is a very vibrant red in color and had a single almost neon yellow stripe going down it's back. This arthropod has six legs that are slightly bent which helps grasp the waxy leaf it was resting on. The antennas were yellow-white in color and the tip was slightly grey.

Habitat:

I found this stink bug nymph on a waxy leaf in the secondary tropical rain forest of Singapore. The arthropod recieved a fair amount of sunlight however few taller plants gave it some shade. This was spotted at about 11:49 am.

Notes:

There were no nearby insects and the bright colors seemed to make predators stay away.
