Field Notes

Description:

genus Godyris comprises 14 very attractive species, characterised by their distinctive venation.

Habitat:

primary rainforest

Notes:

One of the many clearwings I saw. I had first learned about these on Noah and really wanted to see them in the wild. At some forest reserves, clearwings were the most common butterfly. I didn't expect to see as many as I did or as many different species as I did.

Well, I will definitely have some more challenges for you in the future.
Clearwings are amongst the most trickiest one to ID, that's why I love them...!
Thanks bayucca. Great to see my first clearwing get an ID. I have many more.
Nymphalidae, Ithomiinae, Godyris sp. and Godyris zavaleta, female. Subspecies unknown and too tricky, anyway this one quite a tricky one...
Thanks Gerardo and Carol. I hope you see one too Carol.
