Description:

Pine Siskin
Carduelis pinus
This little bird was hanging out with the American Goldfinch. It was about the same size: 5 inches. mottled brown chest. small pointed beak.

Habitat:

fores, pond on willow trees.

Notes:

Backyard Birds of New England, "Most numerous in winter, but numbers vary depending on food sources. Usually seen in flocks, often with goldfinches. Feeds on tree buds and seeds (alders, birches, pines). L 5" WS 9"
