Description:

This mantis has short wings. It is female.

The compound eyes of mantids have no pupil. The black dots are called pseudopupils and are caused by optical interactions in the individual cells of the compound eye. This gives the impression that the eyes are pointing towards you. This is not strictly correct although you can be sure the mantis is watching you.
Nice one Martin. There's so many different ones around right now. I wonder how they fit with this ridiculous drought. I think I'll put some up... :)
