Field Notes

Habitat:

subspecies Range: Key Largo Group, embracing fringing keys along the southeast coast of Florida, from Virginia Key south to Lower Matecumbe Key. Original habitats of the raccoon are deciduous and mixed forests, but due to their adaptability they have extended their range to mountainous areas, coastal marshes, and urban areas.

Notes:

Likely the following subspecies: Matecumbe Key raccoon
P. l. inesperatus. It was keeping a close eye on me as it scurried up a sabal palm.
