Description:
Whiptail lizards live on land and are active during the day. They are insectivores, primarily feeding on insects. Most interesting about the Aspidoscelis genera is that these lizards are parthenogenic - reproducing without the eggs being fertilized. Certain species have female only populations.
Habitat:
Southern U.S. - South America. Arid, semi-arid environments.
