Field Notes

Description:

This is a Caddisfly sitting on a Click Beetle. The Beetle was busy playing dead, so it didn't move away. Caddisflies have aquatic larvae that make very interesting cases out of whatever material is in the water, to protect themselves from predators.

Habitat:

Both insects came to an ultraviolet light in the garden which is very close to our mountain wetlands.

Thank you Keith, it looks like some kind of pattern and maybe some dust or pollen on the elytra?
Photobombed! Anyway, a neat looking Click Beetle. It looks fuzzy. Is it fuzzy?
