Field Notes

Description:

About 70mm long now (with arms stretching forwards as they do). Brown with some mottled parts.

Habitat:

Suburban back yard.

Notes:

This is the one I rescued from drowning about 4 weeks ago. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/17329753
I estimate it has quadrupled in length. I make a bouquet every few days with stems of various native plants and making different combinations to see what it prefers to eat. It's favourite is now casuarina and it's also noticeable that it is much harder to find when in the casuarina leaves. More pre-rehab progress to follow later.

I was wondering how on earth you spotted it amongst those sticks, but I see you are rehabilitating it. Nice one! : )
Here's one in Casuarina, but just coincidentally...still I wonder if anyone has any idea of the species from the not so good photo :-)
That's an interesting observation about Casuarina. You can determiner its gender now by the bump on its abdominal tip, for a male. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/10984060 The female will have very large cerci. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/10836628
